Why Dermot Butler will be taking part:
"My Daughter Grace was born 9 weeks premature in early June in the Countess of Chester Hospital, initially very poorly she was cared for by the staff of the Neonatal ward. Grace made a full recovery and after 7 weeks was allowed to come home, she is now doing very well. The staff on the Neonatal ward were wonderful and I am scared to think were we would be without such people and facilities. In recognition of this and in a small way to acknowledge the work they do we have decided to undertake a sponsored cycle ride to raise funds for a very worthy cause."
The ride
From Tadcaster to Chester, the route following the Trans Pennine Trail takes into account the Pennines, approximately 120 miles this challenging routes takes in road, cycle paths, canal paths, old railway lines and a little off roading.
